LEFT BEHIND - THE DEADLY SILENCE
By Danie Marie
Why
didn’t you tell us the things that you knew?
Why didn’t you tell us that we could know too?
We might have refused,
we might have rejected
To follow the truth you
could have reflected.
But you chose to follow
when you could have led,
You selfishly held onto
what you could have fed.
You refused to see the
signs that you knew
Of Christ soon return,
then the trumpet…blew!
The lights in the world
now gone from our sight,
All’s turned to
darkness—the day into night.
We were left behind on
that fateful day,
Why didn’t you tell us
so that we could pray?
We might have chosen if
you’d shown the way,
Why didn’t you tell us,
we might have said yea!
Can you see us here on
the other side?
Don’t turn away now, you
cannot hide.
We’re oh so thirsty,
our mouths…dry,
Our souls in anguish,
can you hear our cry?
Oh, we’re lost forever,
never to know
The wonder of being
perfectly whole.
Why didn’t you tell us
the things that you knew?
Why
didn’t you tell us…that we could choose,
too?
Romans 10:14-15
"How, then,
can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in
the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone
preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is
written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'”
While I may have written this poem years ago, the message is just as poignant if not more, today.
Lord, open our eyes to those who are lost and in need of your saving grace. Help us love others unconditionally--to see them through your eyes, and to have compassion on them. Give us spiritual boldness to proclaim the Good News, that salvation comes from you alone. In Jesus name, amen.
I love you, friends!
