Welcome, friends. Come sit on my porch where a breeze is keeping
the summer heat from being overwhelming. During my quiet time today, I read
Isaiah 40:31. "Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength,
they will mount up with wings like eagles." I've either
read or heard this verse many times, but today, a newness awakened in my
spirit.

First, the word "wait" caught my attention. It implies
patience. Now that's a word not many of us like. Patience is hard work.—Or is
it?
I'm smiling, friend. Because, wait means a pause, or gap, an
interval, or postponement. We wait to cross the street until a car passes, lest
we pass from this earth. Therefore, we delay crossing the street until it's
safe to cross. When it comes to creating a novel, I’m patient. It takes time,
sometimes years, to create a work worthy of publishing. But in other areas of
my life—I'm still learning the art of waiting. Waiting on the Lord.
The next word that caught my attention is "renew."
Doesn't "renew" sound refreshing? It implies good actions. As in;
renovating, refurbishing, repairing, restarting, repeating, reconditioning, and
here's the one I really like—restoring, as in returning, etc. The Lord restores
my soul.
Strength denotes power. Force. Might. Potency. Muscle.
Vigor.
What comes next is most exciting. Once our strength is
renewed, we will mount up with wings like eagles. Mount up has wonderful
implications; gather, increase, collect, build up, disperse, grow, swell,
escalate, multiply, intensify, rise, etc. I love the Lord giving us the example
of an eagle mounting up.
Last year when my husband and I were driving from South Lake
Tahoe into Carson City, coming down the long grade, I spotted three Bald Eagles
in flight. What a majestic sight. They have a wing span of 6 – 8 ft. Incredible!
In God's sight, we too, have an incredible capacity in the strength of the Holy
Spirit, to soar above our trials. To flee temptations.
Eagles also have keen eyesight. Four to eight times stronger
than that of the average human (Wikipedia). Those who are filled with the Holy
Spirit and are in tune with God's will, have supernatural vision. We have an ability to discern Truth (God's
Word), from the enemies lies. Opportunities to witness become clear. Direction
in a job search, or purchasing a home, etc.
Discerning the Word of God with the Holy Spirit's leading empowers us to accomplish great things for His glory.

He is the wind beneath our wings.
Lord, renew our strength as we wait upon you. As we lift
our eyes to heaven may we see you as high and lifted up, as our King of Kings
and Lord of Lord's. Encourage us today, with the knowledge that you are coming
again. We thank you, Lord, for keeping your promises, and help us to soar
through life's trials. In Jesus name. Amen.
May the Lord richly bless you ~ Danie Marie
