Why, I used to wonder, would God clothe all of His children in pure white, linen robes. To be honest, I thought it sounded kind of boring. I'm sure God laughed at my ignorance. I mean, after all, He had it all planned out since the beginning. Who was I to say what color he chose … or lack thereof. And yet, look at the beauty of a simple white dandelion.
Many years later, it came to me. His plan. All you have to do is look outside to see God's love of color. Surely, the colors in heaven are beyond what we experience here on earth. Before the movie Heaven is for Real came out, Colton, now sixteen, whom the movie is about, said as much in an interview on Hannity (Fox News Channel).
As a little boy Colton told his father that God has a rainbow horse. I wondered at that. Scripture plainly says that God will ride a white horse. Besides, a rainbow horse sounds rather fairytalish, doesn't it? A rainbow horse. Hmmm. What on earth would make a white horse take on the colors of the rainbow in a child's eyes? Can you picture it? Have you figured it out?
God tells us in Revelation 21:18-21. "The wall was built of jasper, while the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned and with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beyrl, the ninth topaz, the tenth crysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass."
Now, imagine the glory of God illuminating the entire city and reflecting off the jewels and gold like a giant prism. Wow! I don't know about you, but I get goosies thinking about it.
Our robes will reflect the glory of God forever. They won't wear out. And they'll always be clean and white … or rather, radiant with color! Isn't that awesome? God is in the details. He hasn't left anything out. He plans to bless our socks off!
Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

We just finished a year-long study of Revelation and I remember that passage so well. Beautiful reminder. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI remember that you were studying Revelation. Glad you made it through to the end. While it's a difficult book, it's so rich, and full of promise.
