In John 14:6, Jesus said, "I
am the way, and the truth, and the
life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (emphasis mine). What
is your perception about the word 'truth'? Is it simply the opposite of a lie,
or does it have deeper meaning?
Synonyms for truth are; fact,
certainty, reality, accuracy, genuineness, precision, exactness, legitimacy. In
the scripture I mentioned above, Truth is a person. Jesus Christ. An
exact representation of God the Father. So when we act in truthful ways, we
represent Christ, our Heavenly Father, God. Since Jesus is truth, that is what we should set our minds on.
But as we travel through dark
valleys we're often like the disciples, who during the storm when Jesus was
asleep in the bottom of the boat, thought they we're doomed to drown. Even
though we have the scriptures and know that Jesus is with us
when the tempests of life blow round us, we're often slow to learn. We may feel
like we'll drown in our troubles.
In hindsight, I think about the many storms, whether physical, emotional, spiritual or relational that He has
brought me through, and I am still ... safe in His arms. Enjoy this video of Phil Wickham singing Safe: http://youtu.be/0XhCdbSHwxs
It's Truth that calms the storm and leads us safely to shore. It's all about perspective. In His perspective the
storm is hindsight. Truth has the Victory. Believe it friend, and rest in Him.
Oh Lord, thank you for Your saving
grace that sees us through to the other side. Truth that keeps us from
destruction and raises us up to a higher plain. Truth that enables us to see
through your eyes.
Open the eyes of those who feel a
weight of lies pulling them down, that Your Truth would set them free. In Jesus
name. Amen.

Praise God, the truth is that no matter what is going on in our lives that makes us feel things are out of control, they're only out of OUR control.
