Wowie Maui

Last October hubby and I escaped to Maui for a week. That time of year, it’s a bit warm and humid. Before leaving, I prayed for an opportunity to share Christ with someone while there or on the plane. Once we settled in at our condo, from the balcony we watched leggy egrets’ in a field poking long beaks in the grass in search of tiny morsels of food. In the evenings, we enjoyed dining at a variety of restaurants overlooking the ocean; and we were not disappointed. The food and sunsets were phenomenal.

We snorkeled at least once every day; and I cared not that my blue flippers and large pink goggles made me look frog-like as I plopped awkwardly into the chilly water.

Coral reefs of various shapes, sizes and colors, from white, off-white, blue, purple, yellow and green, looked like another world, a fairy tale world where fish played and ducked into miniature castles and caves. I could go on and on about the wonders of God’s creation. For instance, octopuses—did you know they’re camouflage artists? What remarkable creatures.

I watched one turn black upon leaving its current residence and transform to look like whatever rock or coral formation it lit upon. Amazing! Black ripples, like currents, ran through the body of another. Perhaps it was trying to attract dinner. God’s creation always amazes me.

One night after we had filled our bellies, Dave and I window shopped. An outdoor vendor had a glorious display of laser-cut wind spinners across the street. We crossed and met Jacob, the man working the booth. He gestured to books on the counter that he’d been studying, Hebrew books! My pulse quickened. Born in Israel, Jacob had been in the States six years.

We discussed spiritual matters a good half hour after my purchases. I shared that the Messiah he was looking for already came, that his name was Jesus, and encouraged him to read the book of Isaiah. What an awesome highlight on our vacation in answer to prayer.

Have you had a chance to share your faith of late? I’d love for you to share.

And he who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit to life eternal, so that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. And in this is the saying true, One sows and another reaps. John 4:36,37

Lord, I ask that you deepen our fellowship with you today, that we might we see you more clearly. Give us spiritual boldness to stand up for you, in Jesus name. Amen.

Blessings, Friends ~

  1. Well, in answer to your question, no. I haven't had the opportunity to deeply share my faith as of late. My contacts are limited, so I will be more fervent in reaching out to the few that I do meet each week and pray for more opportunities to share the truth and love of Jesus.

I would love to go to Hawaii some day!
